“You’re a great warrior! And a swordsman!… And you’re ten times bigger than I am, stupid!”

Picture the scene…

London at night. Tearing through Chinatown. The unrepentant rain is lashing down indiscriminately. A translucent mist hangs over the city. There’s a buzz in the air…

Suddenly, out of the mist and rain they emerge. The waiting crowds are ecstatic. Security descends to ensure things don’t get out of hand. THEY have FINALLY arrived at the Curzon Soho, Shaftesbury Avenue.

Obviously we’re talking about the cast of Willow, the upcoming Disney+ series and follow-up to the 1988 cult classic movie. You didn’t think we were talking about us, did you?

Star Wars Sessions were invited to a special screening of the first two episodes, along with Luke’s brother James to inject some additional class to proceedings. Also in attendance were showrunner, executive producer, and writer Jon Kasdan and stars Warwick Davis, Ellie Bamber, Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman, Tony Revolori, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Dempsey Bryk, with Ali Plumb assuming hosting responsibilities.

The cast of Willow and Jon Kasdan take to the stage

Kasdan introduced the series and discussed how it came to fruition – in the Canary Islands on the set of Solo: A Star Wars Story, no less – before introducing the cast to the excited crowd (including fellow Solo alumni, Erin Kellyman – Enfys nest, herself!)

The series marketing is led with the following synopsis: “Willow leads an unlikely crew of heroes on a quest to protect Andowyne from an even larger foe than they had imagined possible.” and whilst the show is currently under global embargo, we are very intrigued to discover how the diehard fans of the film react to the legacyquel. That’s about all we can say right now!

We also had the joy of bumping into Mark and Matt from Fantha Tracks and the Imperial Senate Podcast’s Charlie Ashby whilst there which will never not be a pleasure.

Willow, the all-new action-adventure series, streams exclusively on Disney+ beginning November 30, 2022.

Huge thanks to Lucasfilm and Disney Plus UK for the invite!
